This Is Me, I'm Yih Ling Pow

First of all, I would like to thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Yih Ling Pow. If you happen to come to this site before, you'll know that my nickname is Elynn P. Well, it's so obvious that P stands for Pow. That's my surname. I can see that you have trouble pronouncing my surname. I get many people pronouncing my surname wrongly. It makes me wonder whether it's too hard to get it right. I mean basically you just have to think of Pau.That's it. Ain't it easy?

Well, that's me when I was one. Cute huh? FYI, I no longer look cute. Wish that I were. Anyway, back then, I was  a teeny-weeny kid  that may be annoying at times. As what my parents told me, I'm always in talkative mood. I wonder who I've inherit this characteristic from actually.  It must be from my grandma. No doubt. Truth to be told, till today, I'm still talkative. Like seriously. I can talk the whole day non-stop. Gosh. My dear friends, I guess you need  to get yourself a remote control like in 'Click' movie. It'll definitely do the trick. I bet it will, if that thing really exists.

I was probably two years old in this picture. Looking at this, somehow I was literally asking myself when was the last time I wore a dress or skirt other than my school uniform itself. Alright, I'm gonna add this to To-do Lists. I'm gonna wear a dress, a skirt or whatever. But not miniskirts.  Something decent. I'll wear it one day. Promise.

Now, I understand what it meant by 'Old habits die hard'. Till to this very day, I still laugh like that. *terror Gosh, it will even scares everyone in vicinity. Ain't it? You see my little brother, Eugene. It seems that he was shocked, speechless and his face was cringed in terror. As if I was like some kinda witch or devil or something evil. Muahaha. By the way, I looked like a retard with my pants tucked up so high above my waist. This is what they call 'Bad Fashion Sense'  *sighs

OMG. No wonder I still can' ride a bike. *speechless You see that lazy little girl, don't even wanna move her butt. .

Ummm, who's birthday was it anyway. *puzzled I can see that both of us are blowing the candles. Not that we are twins. Sharing is caring, perhaps. I Heart You, Eugene, even though you pissed me off sometimes.
Great pose, Eugene. You can even be Rexona model, by the way. Bright future ahead. *winks Haha

HAHA.The cheerleader side of me. Can you spot me? I'm grinning widely with my head tilted upwards.

That's my kindergarten class when I was six. I started kindergarten at Superkids Kindergarten, Alor Setar. I think. I love this pic the most. Each with their very own reaction. Haha. It's been a long, long time I had such a long hair. I used to love my ponytail. But ever since I was enrolled for my primary education, my hair was cut short. I always  wonder how does it feel like to flick thick lustrous hair. Deep down, I adore those attractive woman with their awesome hairstyle. And now, I have to add another one to my To-do Lists. Is there any way to grow my hair longer and faster? Like super fast, do you know any which is affordable? Tell me if you know one.

This was taken when I was in Standard 3.

Upon completing kindergarten, I studied at St. Nicholas Convent, Alor Setar during primary and secondary school. Currently, I'm a school-leaver who had completed  her SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia), an examination for Form 5 students in 2009. Even though I was placed at the honours class but I was not a brilliant student that scored strings of A+s like what Gladys Tan did.

If you happen to read my blog posts before,  you already know that I've just completed my National Service at Tasik Meranti, Wang Kelian, Perlis. Being in the camp gave me many memories, and it’d take entries to re-tell every single detail about it. So, I suggest that you read my older posts. National Service has shaped me into the person I am now. It made me realize that there are other achievements and objectives in life instead of aiming for excellent results in academics. One thing is for sure, it made my  life more interesting, and it made me dark like charcoal. *sob sob Big thanks to all the physical training there! *ugggh Anyway, I had the one chance in my lifetime to try out new things especially on M-16 gun. Talking about M-16, this is so embarassing, I've only managed to score 3/100 with 20 bullets and another 5 bullets for tryout.

P/S: I can’t possibly elaborate every single info in this entry. To know more about me, feel free to read my entries by going through the archives.

You Raised Me Up

I was once a troubled kid ever since primary school. Have I changed for the better? *sighs A little. So I still feel like crap. Hell yeah! Most of the time. Emotionally unstable. Mood swings. Negative thinking. The same troubled kid like I've used to be. Anyway, at least I've try to look on the bright side. *winks

When there's one point in my life where I wanted to end everything by committing suicide, she's the one that get me out of my silly thoughts. She's the one I have pour all my heart to. She's the one who will constantly give me advice when I'm in need of help. She's not one of my family members or even my friends. She's my two consecutive years English teacher. She's none other than Madam Chua. And I'm lucky to be in her class.

There's this journal writing she introduced to my class which is my first big step to open up my mind. Even though I've graduated from that school, I still treasure my journal dearly. As time passes, I find that this journal has become some sort of a place of interaction between us. We were literally chatting on that journal of mine. I shared my personal thoughts and agendas in life. From the silly things to my dreams for my future. Without realization, that journal had created a bond between us.

Without her, I do not know how to survive my senior year at Convent. :/ Thanks to her unconditional love and continuous moral support, I've finally found my true self. With all the things she had taught me, I'll keep it in my heart and bring it to the next chapter of my life. *weeps Even though, I've left Convent but I will forever remember you, teacher.

Fear less, hope more, whine less , breathe more, talk less, say more, hate less, love more, and all good things are yours.

Just Me Again Down Here for the Last Time

I promise. This will definitely be the one last time. *finger crossed Because I realized that there will be more things gonna happen in my life though I'm so bored in my house right now.  Someday. I can't keep on writing on this. I have to move on writing on other stuff. That's for sure. *nodding my head Even though, I have stopped writing, it doesn't mean I am gonna forget everything there. NS moments will continue to live on as it has changed my life. Every hour I've spent together with them there lives within my heart. I'm a new person. No longer the girl you used to see. No longer the shy, quiet girl that you usually see at the inconspicuous corner. I'm not her. Not anymore. And I'm proud for who I am today. I definitely do. NS taught me to do things that I have never ever thought of I'm going to do this in my life. As I move on, I will remember all the times I had together with my friends there. No matter how my life gonna change, we will still be friends forever. I promise. I kept on asking myself. Will these memories fade if I stop writing? And I found an answer within my heart. I will not. As I have this blog to relive my NS moments every now and then. *winks

I Survived Wirajaya

cooking rice using mess tin for the first time in my life

 ta-daa i've succeeded

Mayrin, Masthura and Fen were busy eating nom nom nom

they were busy pitching up our tent

Wirajaya was held at Hutan Simpan Tasik Meranti. Approximately 2km from our camp. We started our journey around 5 p.m. Guess what! We had our hand phone together with us on wirajaya. It sounds weird. Isn't it? Hand phone during camping. Well, perhaps this is modern way of doing things. Haha. My camping buddies were Mayrin, Fen and Fifah. As usual, the first thing we have to do on camping will definitely be pitching up tents. Like duh. Anyway, I hate pitching up tent. Like seriously. It's so hard to find all those sticks. Everything has to be right size and the right type. My God. So troublesome. Because of that, I tripped and fell. *embarrassed Shoot me for being so blind. Bang bang. *sighs Next up was dinner. No doubt, we have to cook our own rice. Thank God the trainers help me. I'm sorry, I've never cook a single thing in my life. *shamefaced As it was my first time camping, I do not how to manage my time. And guess what?! I ended up not having my bath at all. Till the next morning. I even forgot to brush my teeth. And I ate breakfast too. I actually realized that on the way back to our dorm. *eww It's disgusting. I know. By the way, I'm not the only one that stinks. All of us. Not even one bath that day. Haha. Super stinky people. And during the night confidence, we have to walk around the jungle alone. Without our friends. *creepy But actually there were trainers hiding everywhere, checking on us. They were making some freaky noises when we passed them. I ain't freaked out, trainers! Not at all. It was adventurous, by the way.  FYI, I tripped and fell. Again. Ended up having bruises on both knees. How pathetic! The next thing I know, I can't even squat down. It was so pain. Like seriously. *shamefaced It was hilarious to see that Haseena went on screaming in the jungle. And crying at the same time. *shhh Don't tell her. Haha. Even during flying fox, she kept on screaming from the top till she landed. Haha.

Grab A Bite with Them

 Dila, Vino, Nadiah and Fariha
and Tqah haven't arrive yet

Hang out with them for the first time after my NS. It's FUN, FUN and SUPER FUN. Haha. It's been a long, long, long time since our last hang out. Notice that I have repeat myself. It really is. Not being dramatic or what! Hehe. Before going to Facon Edu Fair, we went for karaoke. They sang Beautiful Soul and Bad Romance. I tried to sneak out because I can't stand Fariha and Dila being a Lady Gaga impersonator. Not a fan of Lady Gaga. I'm not joking. I sneaked out with Nadiah and Vino. Desperately wanted to be away from that room. It's too hot and wild for me. Haha. At Facon Edu Fair, I've been squeezed like sardines. It was packed with students. *ugghh I met Robot there. If you are wondering who he is, he's one of my NS peeps.

Finally, we went to Pak Hainan's for brunch. All of us been starving since morning. *sighs Previously, we were stuck at McD because we have been forced to fill up some forms by an unknown college. Seriously. I've never heard of this college. They have been so inconsiderate for not letting us go even we were starving to death. *it sucks Anyway, we managed to escape. *thank God

 that's Tqah's lunch yum yum

We walked around the plaza looking for souvenir shops. And I love Momo Gifts Shop best. At there, I've found quite a few unique stuff but only managed to snap picture at one of those.

finally she found the right gift for her mom's b'day

this is INTERESTING...will you actually buy this?
FYI, i will...hehe

As it was school holidays, lifts were extremely full. Vino challenged us to climb up the stairs. No doubt Fariha hates the idea of climbing the stairs. She rather wait there. However, she followed at the end.  We pathetically climbed up the stairs from the 1st floor to the 4th panting for breath. Besides, all the way to the 4th, we kept laughing like no one's business. I don't even know what the heck we are laughing at actually. The only I remembered was on Biggest Loser. We looked like Biggest Loser contestants. Weren't we? Yeah, we were. Haha.

Walking Down the Memory Lane

 Hanis, Rafinee, Fariha and Nadiah
i know. they are a lil' crazy btw

Perhaps this will gonna be the last time I'm here. *sighs Sooner or later, we will be separated. But when we leave this year we will never know when we are coming back. We will be so busy with our new lives. No more hanging out in school like we used to because we will be on a different track. Actually, I've intended to snap pictures of them for  the one last time in Convent. However, not all of us were here. *sighs Stupidly, I've just realized this morning that it was school holidays. No wonder Convent looks so empty. Unusually quiet. Yeah, we are noisy. All the time. *shamefaced Shouting from one block to the other. So not lady like at all. I'm well aware of that. Though we were not supposed to be like that. Anyway, that's us. Old habits die hard. Haha. I've actually forgot to drop by to my class. I wonder if anything has changed since the last time I was there. *sentimental Anyway, sorry guys, I'm damn lazy to upload all the photos here. Hehe.

So I'm gonna dedicate this to you guys.
Something you should know about Graduation Song Friends Forever Lyrics. thanks to tqah btw

And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now cause you don't have another day
Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down
These memories are playing like a film without sound
And I keep thinking of the night in June
I Didn't know much of love, but it came too soon
And There was me and you, and then it got real blue
Stay at home talkin' on the telephone and
We would get so excited, we'd get so scared
Laughing at our selves thinking life's not fair
And this is how it feels

Chorus:
As we go on, we remember
All the times we had together
And as our lives change, from whatever
We will still be, friends forever

So if we get the big jobs and we make the big money
When we look back now, will that joke still be funny?
Will we still remember everything we learned in school?
Still be trying to break every single rule
Will little brainy Bobby be the stockbroker man?
Can Heather find a job that won't interfere with her tan?
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly
And this is how it feels

Repeat chorus

La, la, la, la; yeah, yeah, yeah
La, la, la, la, we will still be friends forever

Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now?
Can we survive it out there? Can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought that this would never end
And suddenly it's like we're women and men
Will the past be a shadow that will follow us round?
Will these memories fade when I leave this town
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly

Repeat chorus 3x

-Vitamin C, Graduation Song Friends Forever
P.S. I love you guys so much. Did I ever tell you that? You guys rocks. Convent rocks too. Lots of love from me. XOXO

.

You Rocks, Paan!

FYI, that's Paan

He won the single kayak competition with Tai. Congrats to him. Umm, and of course to Tai too. Though I've never talk to him before. Anyway, Delta won the double kayak too. As for me, I participated the rakit competition with another 9 Delta's girls. FYI, we didn't win. *sighs There were some problems before, during and after that competition which I don't wanna talk about it.  T_____T So, I just have to skip it. It's long story, by the way.

that's wira Delta

that's wirawati Delta and I'm one of them
can you spot me?

We're On Duty

our company's leader, pak dragon

On February 21, Delta were on duty for our camp's Family Day. Surprisingly, it was my birthday too. *yippee So, I've celebrated my 18th birthday there with my NS peeps. Hehe. I've actually invited two of my closest buddies to my camp. Sad to say, one of them couldn't turn up due to health problems. However, the party must go on. Though, I've secretly wished she was there. I wanna show her how my camp looks like so much. T_____T Well, that's just my luck. *sighs

he's still busy text-ing OMG wait till cikgu nathan sees this!

Anyway, I've invited extra people who are not from Delta : Ayie and he brought one of his Alpha's friend, Firdaus, Yu Zheng, nickname, Robot, Wanni, Yunice, Yvonne, Yee Teen and Wei. I guessed that's all. The rest 20 of them are from Delta. *yikes That's too many. Anyway, thank God, there's enough food for everyone. Not to mention, there's trainers, the squad leader and the other NS peeps there. *relieved Everyone was full including the trainers. Thanks to my mom for buying such a huge cake. *big, shiny eyes Well, it's official! I'm finally 18.  By the way, there were not much cars up there on that day as CNY holidays just ended. Thank God. Again. Not much of work I had to do.  And because of that, we walked aroud the marching filed, snapping pictures here and there as if there's no one business. *yikes Luckily, Cikgu Nathan was understanding enough. If not, he'll normally shouts, "You, mau makan ubat kah?" Listening to this will absolutely sends shivers down our spine. FYI, his ubat means knocking on our forehead and smashing on our pretty face. Thank God, only boys will be treated like this. Haha. Who cares if they have to makan ubat from Cikgu Nathan or not! The most important thing is I don't have to. muahaha

some of us because others were camera shy hehe

presents from tqah thanks, sister

robot played b'day song and Taylor Swift's Love Story with his er hu for me that day  sweet  thanks

they are busy eating nom nom nom

Malam Citra Puisi

Father, Darryl, Me, Qawiem and Yus
On February 19, we had our Malam Citra Puisi. I was one of the poets that are supposed to recite poem on the stage.  Our poem was Tukang Besi di Bengkel Kereta Api. Here's the poem:

Dia lelaki muda dari lembah
tak sempat menatap mata ayah
mengenggam hidup warisan alam
menukul besi
menggelek tayar kereta api
wajah merah memain percikan bunga api
ia mengetuk bersama siul kenari dunia baru
menggiling percaturan nafas
tanpa mengenal jalur kesal
demi upah semangkuk sup awal bulan

dia lelaki tiga zaman
telah dilengkungnya fajar kelabu
telah disilangnya keringat siang
dialah lelaki penakluk malam
menyentik hujan
silih berganti
jari kematunya masih mengetuk jeriji
seperti juga setia dia
menghitung malam
di bengkel tua istirahat seminit berbantal besi
dituangnya kopi sisa semalam
masih jua ia bertasbih
senyum mengenangi dia

Sebatilah alam yang dihirup
darah keringat
demi anak-anak

bisakah satu ketika
putera sulung menubah haluan?

tukang besi di bengkel kereta api
dialah ayahku
dialah pamanku
abang-abangku
itulah adik-adikku
tapi kalau kalian anak-anakku
kini, harus terdidik dari akademi tukang
yang tak lagi menjadi kuda tunggangan

that's our so-called tukang besi hehe

Truth to be told, I've never recite a poem. Totally never on the stage for poem recitation before. Never ever. Like seriously. I've had this stage fright for standing on the stage, giving out speech. Let alone reciting a poem in front of the audience. *terror Hehe. Anyway, I gave my very best on that day. There were no forgetting lines like what I did on my Delta's KKJ.  *proud Thank God! Though it was difficult for me at the beginning during the rehearsal as I was not fluent enough in Malay language. I don't have the slang which I love to pick it up one day.  *finger crossed But I've managed to pull this through. Sad to say, we didn't win for that competition. However, the memories and experience for that night is absolutely fantastic enough for me to treasure it dearly. *sweet

that's our Father for that poem *amazed

It's Hard to Let You Go

For 18 years on this Earth, March 10 was the saddest day of my life. And it's still is. Why is this so? Because for all my life, I've never left behind all this fantastic people on the same day. Never. I'm serious. And yes, when I left my own school, I was not even that emotional. I did cried on that when leaving my 5 Amal class. I really did. Knowing that I've spent most of my time there, how can I ever feel nothing when leaving 5 Amal behind. I still remember every single thing we have done there. From the good things to the bad things. Anyway, back to NS. Now, it's not the time to dwell into memories of 5 Amal. I wanna write regarding on these people who are special to me and means a lot to me. And they will always remain in my heart till the end of time. *ugghh Being melodramatic again. Haha.

That's Danial. We were in the same group for Character Building class. Our group was Fire Team. Btw, he's one of the Delta. And he's damn talkative. Like seriously. Hehe. But he's friendly. Besides that, he's a loyal text-er. *sweet Whenever I text him, he will reply me even though it's a bit late. As you can see, he's not that tall. Almost the same height as mine. Haha. He's 160 cm only. FYI, I'm 154 cm. But who cares! I can always wear high heels. *yippee

She's Fifah. We prefer to call her Kak Long Tiger. Reasons? Unknown. Hehe. Anyway, she's one of the Delta's corporal. I'm proud to be under her wings. *big, shiny eyes Ever since the CNY holidays, my alarm clock couldn't work well. Tried to change the battery. It's still remain the same. Showing the wrong time. How pathetic! Eventually, I gave up. Since then, I have depend on her  to wake me up at 5.30 a.m. Thank God, she's willing to do that. So, I wanna say thanks to her and give her XOXO too. I still remember for the first time I saw her. I mistakenly thought that she was a boy. And so I was thinking what the heck a boy is hanging around our dorm. *terror Haha.

Well, that's Farhan. We call him Paan. He's Delta's sergeant. How do I came to know him? It was during Delta's Kontrak Kita Janji. I was in need of a pen back then. And he was beside me. So, I borrowed his. And the rest is history. We were in the same class for Character Building which is PK4 like Danial. But we weren't in the same group for Module 1 and 2 though I secretly wish we were. *shhh Anyway, later on, I joined Dikir Barat team for Hari Pelatih which he was too. We were not in the same class for Kelas Kenegaraan. *ugghh How disappointing! Next up was on HIV/AIDS class. We were back into PK4. I'm glad. ^^ But at first I suppossed to be in Group 1 which he was not going to be in. So, I've cheated. I sneaked into his group which I successfully did without the teacher noticing it. *proud ^^

She's Syafikah from Charlie. Her nickname is Eyka. She stays next to my dorm which  is the A+C dorm. I can easily say Hi to her everytime I walk out of my dorm. Her motto for Charlie is 'Charlie Sejati'. Well, as for me as a Delta's member is 'Hidup Delta'. Haha. Well, she's the closest malay friend I had there. Though we do not hang out as often as others normally do there.

Last but not least, this is Padin. My 大哥 at the camp. We called him Pak Dragon after the name of our group for Kelas Kenegaraan. Haha. As our group name was Dragon, what we did on that group was mostly on Chinese culture. We did dragon dance together with Ameer, Mamu, Izam, Aswad, Apit, Emi, Min and Hoi Fen.

P.S. Thanks to you guys for all these sweet memories I've had there. Without you guys, things wouldn't be that fun at the camp. I hope that you guys will say Hi if I meet you guys anywhere on this Earth. XOXO. muacks
